Arizona Partners Against Pertussis
Over 850 cases of pertussis were reported in Arizona in 2011. In 2012 we had one infant death in Arizona. Arizona Partners Against Pertussis (APAP) is a statewide campaign working together to reduce pertussis exposure to patients. Our first big campaign in 2012-2013 resulted in over 2,000 healthcare workers pledging to keep their patients safe by immunizing themselves against pertussis. Our education grand rounds reached over 2,255 health care workers. If you are interested in more information regarding grand rounds please contact us. Your support of this initiative is crucial. All healthcare personnel and staff are asked to get immunized against pertussis to decrease the spread of this contagious, yet preventable disease.
How your organization can participate in this campaign:
Get Involved - Achieve a 100% pertussis immunization rate among eligible staff.
- Set a goal for each healthcare worker and staff in your organization to get the Tdap vaccine if they have not done so already (excuse those with medical reasons or up-to-date shots).
- Utilize the APAP materials to educate your staff and clients about pertussis and the Tdap vaccine.
Already 100% Immunized Staff? Excellent! You can still participate and promote your 100% pertussis-free work place.
