Senior Adult Immunizations

Moving into your older adult years brings on many changes. One thing that does not change though, is the need for vaccines! Adults need a few different vaccines than children and some seniors need options based on certain health conditions. We encourage you to talk to your doctor or health care provider about which vaccines are right for you.

Some of the vaccines that are important:

  • Yearly influenza (flu) vaccine.
  • Shingles (Zoster)for adults 50 years and older.
  • Pneumonia vaccine for older adults.
  • Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) which replaces the Td vaccine, every 10 years.
  • Hepatitis B vaccine.

Tips to remember:

  • Keep going to your annual physicals and ask questions.
  • Get your yearly flu shot!
  • If you are a new grandparent – make sure you are up-to-date on your whooping cough vaccine (Tdap)
  • Always remember to wash your hands, cover your cough and stay home when you are sick.
