Educate your employees about how to keep their families safe by being up to date on their own immunizations. There are several vaccines employees should be talking to their health care workers about to make sure they are up to date. Some include an annual flu vaccine, Tdap vaccine, and depending on the employees age Shingles vaccine.
Tdap is a very important vaccine to be up to date on because newborns are especially vulnerable to pertussis (whooping cough) as they are not fully protected until their first birthday. If you have a work environment where new parents can bring in their babies to work, or even kiddos visit mom or dad at the office, this is especially important education for all your employees. An officemate may not realize that he or she can help protect someone else’s child at home just by staying up to date with important immunizations. We call this Community Immunity.
